Dean Students

Dr. Ranendu Ghosh has completed his post graduation and Ph.D. from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi in Soil Chemistry and Plant Nutrition. After finishing his degree from IARI, he joined SAC, ISRO, Ahmedabad as scientist. During his stay at SAC (ISRO) he contributed in various national missions for the application of satellite remote sensing and communication technology for the development and planning of natural resources in the country. He has taken voluntary retirement from SAC, ISRO and joined as a full time faculty at DA-IICT in 2010.

Some of the major projects he participated are Village Resources Center (VRC), National Resources Information System (NRIS), and Integrated Mission for Sustainable Development (IMSD). As part of VRC project Dr. Ghosh coordinated the activities of designing and implementing 11 student and 4 master nodes in the villages of Kutch, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar for tele-medicine, tele-education.

In recognition to his contribution for developing a tele medicine center at Sabarmati jail and connecting with Apollo hospital, Dr.Ghosh and Gujarat Police, was jointly conferred with Manthan Award South Asia 2009 by Digital Empowerment Foundation, New Delhi.

Dr. Ghosh is also recipient of prestigious ISRO Team Excellence Award and Best Teacher Award, DA-IICT in 2012 and 2015 respectively. Dr. Ghosh has published number of scientific papers in national and international journals of repute.

DA-IICT takes deep interest not only in teaching-learning but in all-round development of the student by providing various opportunities for self-development. DA-IICT firmly believes that today’s student will grow up as a responsible citizen tomorrow and would contribute in the nation building process. We believe in nurturing the student towards this goal. We take pride in the success and achievement of our students in the past and the future to come.

DA-IICT seeks to facilitate the integration of the academic experience of students with all aspects of the University and student life. We support students’ academic success and their personal and professional development. We assist students in preparing for their lives beyond DA-IICT.

Our mission is to engage and support the students throughout their learning experience. We promote and facilitate this growth through various extra-curricular activities. We oversee and coordinate the campus residence life, cafeteria services, student health, Student Body Government (SBG), sports and cultural activities, student clubs, the student e-magazine, counselling and many other areas of student life. DA-IICT will provide the platform to make friends across language, states, religion, caste by the way of sharing classroom, hostel, clubs and various other activities which will be a lifelong experience for the students and you will cherish it throughout your life. We assist and support you to reach beyond your grasp and to develop your full potential.

Functions of Office of the Dean (Students)

DA-IICT has institutionalized Dean (Students) position to encourage, enhance, oversee, and administer all extra-curricular activities of its students. On a regular basis he/she advises and counsels the student government. By virtue of his/her role, he/she acts as convener of the Disciplinary Committee and also attends to the urgent and critical needs of students, in collaboration with the Wardens and student representatives. In all, Dean (Students) is a part and parcel of students non-academic life.
