What is program structure of M.Sc. (Data Science)?

The primary objective of the M.Sc. in Data Science program is to develop skilled professional workforce that is prepared to address the increasing needs in the rapidly expanding area of big data analytics. The program aims to provide skills in quantitative data analysis, data mining, data modeling and prediction, data storage and management, big data processing, data visualization, multimedia big data, programming and communication skills. SAS based courses/ training and a large number of practical case studies have been integrated in the program to boost the learner confidence and market acceptability. The program also enables the students to obtain SAS global certification in many fields and the skills can be ratified and showcased through SAS international certification badges.

What is selection criteria for M.Sc. (DS)?

There will be two components to the process: (1) a computer based entrance test and (2) an interview. The entrance test will carry 50% weightage and the interview 50% weightage. The candidates are shortlisted for the interview on the basis of an entrance test to be conducted at selected centers all over the country.

Is there any management quota in M.Sc. (DS) Program?

No. Admission to M.Sc. (DS) program is completely based on merit list.

What are the job prospects after completion of M.Sc. (DS) from DA-IICT?

MSc. in Data Science program has been designed to provide students with a strong foundation in data management and analysis, and the necessary skills to succeed in data-analytics related job.

Is there any scholarship facility available to M.Sc. (DS) students?

The Institute will award a limited number of Merit and Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships to the admitted students as per the DA-IICT norms. The Merit Scholarship will be based on purely academic performance and the Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, based on academic performance and annual income of the student’s parent(s).

My final year result is not declared. can I apply?

Candidates appearing in their final Degree examination and expecting to complete it by July 2021 may also apply. However, their final admission will be subject to the condition that they obtain an aggregate of 60% marks or its equivalent as per the norms set by the degree granting institute/university. All admitted candidates have to submit their degree certificates or proof of completion of Degree, before 30 October 2021 failing which their admission is liable to cancellation.

Hostel compulsory for M.Sc. (DS)?

No, It is not compulsory

Is the M.Sc. degree recognized by government institutes/organizations?

DA-IICT is recognized by UGC, hence all the degrees awarded by DA-IICT are recognized by all agencies.

Can I do M.Sc. (DS) in part time?

No

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

The refund policy for the withdrawing admission will be in accordance with the UGC/AICTE rules.

Educational Loan Available?

The Institute will facilitate the students to avail educational loan from the Banks of their choice in completing the loan documentation process by issuing various documents like, fees structure, bonafide certificate etc.

Which amount I have to pay at the time of admission in M.Sc. (DS)?

At the time of admission an amount of Rs. 195, 000/- (Rs. 175,000 towards Tuition Fee for the First Semester and Rs.20,000/- towards a Caution Deposit) – The registration fee is payable at the time of registration and hostel rent on allotment of the hostel room.

BCA student is applicable for admission in Data science? Can they appear in both entrance- M.Sc. (IT) and M.Sc. (Data Science)?

Yes, you can apply in both courses M.Sc. (IT) & M.Sc. (DS).

What is entrance exam pattern?

Multiple choice questions (MCQ) from four sections – Mathematics, Statistics, basic Computer Science (programming) and Quantitative Aptitude.

Is there negative marking in M.Sc. (DS)?

The correct answers for each question will be awarded 4 marks; each incorrect answer will be assigned a negative mark of -1. There will be no section wise cutoffs.

I want to do this course but I don’t have money for this course so, can I have loan for this course and how much loan we have to pay for this course.

Hello, I want to apply for both M.Sc. (IT) and M.Sc. (Data Science) so do i need to register two times or can i apply for both of them through same account..?

Yes, you can apply for both the program after registering once, however, you need to pay the application fees separately for both the programs

My daughter wants to apply for M.Sc. (IT) & M.Sc. (Data Science), but entrance exam for both the course shown to be held on same day. Please clarify who want to apply for both.

Yes, you can apply. entrance exam will be on same date. But time slots will be different.

In entrance test can we use calculator?

Please note that no separate (physical) calculator will be allowed to be used in the entrance exam. However, the necessary instructions will be issued well before the entrance test. You may refer the same before appearing in the exam

I am pursuing my graduation in Mathematics Honour from the University of Delhi. I am in my 6th semester. My all over Semester Grade Point Average(SGPA) is 9 till the 5th semester. I want to do M.Sc in Data Science. I did not have any knowledge of statistics and Computer Science it is because my course name is B.Sc(H) mathematics. Sir, Can your college give admission to me on a merit basis?

I wanted to know whether Data Science program is also provided at Mumbai campus or only at Gandhinagar campus.

The DA-IICT is based at Gandhinagar (Gujarat) only. There is no campus at any other place.

I just filled the application form. And submitted latest CGPA marks of sem 4 as sem 5 marks were not declared then. But just recieved sem 5 marks as well. So would that be a problem if I have submitted sem 4 marks instead of sem 5. So basically my question is latest CGPA marks are not gonna affect my selection process right?

As per DA-IICT Eligibility criteria BBA – IT degree is not eligible for Msc (DS). Eligibility for M.Sc. (DS) is A Bachelor’s degree in Science from a recognized university with an aggregate of 60% or its equivalent as per the norms set by the degree granting institute/university in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Econometrics and Operational Research OR A Bachelor’s degree Engineering or Technology from a recognized University with an aggregate of 60% or its equivalent as per the norms set by the degree granting institute/university in Computer Science, Information Technology and Electronics/Electronics and Communication/Electrical Engineering. OR Candidates with BCA and BSc (IT) degrees can also apply.
